Quality Durability Reliability

It is our conviction that building clean vehicles is not the only way towards building a cleaner future. We have expanded our green umbrella to other community driven ventures too. At TKM, we are committed to environment protection and strongly believe in community involvement and public participation to develop a sense of responsibility and affinity towards the environment. In order to make this approach more successful and sustainable, We have developed an Eco-CSR road map involving NGOs, local panchayats and the education department.

TKM always believes in creating awareness amongst the future generation as they are the leaders of tomorrow. Continuing with its tradition of preserving environment and hosting eco-friendly activities, TKM conducted a clean-up drive was organized at Bidadi during the 2015 Environment Month celebrations, involving 500 volunteer Team Members. Over 5000 nos. of environmental friendly bags were distributed to individual households along with pamphlets addressing the public awareness on environment. TKM has continuously strived to work with its stakeholders to contribute to the sustainable development of the society and the earth by providing high quality and innovative products and services. Our suppliers play a crucial role in production of faultless vehicles.

TKM has developed 'Green Purchasing Guideline' (GPG) which explicitly describes the requirements and methodologies that expects the suppliers to adhere to as a part of Toyota's global commitment towards greening the supply chain.

With the launch of new GPG, training on new guidelines was conducted to create awareness among suppliers and make them understand the importance of these guidelines so that they comply with the requirement. A Kaizen showcase among all suppliers was conducted to share the best practices and for further improvement.

Dealers form the face of TKM as they serve as the direct point of contact for the customers. TKM encourages its Dealers to implement Environment Management System (EMS). A standard operating procedure is established at the eligible dealerships to visualize ISO 14001 Certification status, surveillance audit and certification expiry date.

DERAP - Dealer Environment Risk Assessment Programme:
DERAP is designed by the Toyota Motor Corporation to ensure efficient environment risk management for the dealers. Complementing the ISO 14001 certification, this programme is designed for ensuring minimum requirement of Environment risk management for the dealer workshops.

Eco Initiatives:

Eco Wash ( Waterless Wash)
Waterless wash was introduced for cleaning vehicle exteriors at Dealership with an objective to reduce water consumption and consequent impact on the ecosystem.

Expansion of Water Borne paints
With the implementation of Water Borne painting processing 95% of our Dealerships, up to 90% of the hazardous solvent is replaced by water and a ready for use base coat paint mixture. This has led to an overall reduction in VOCs level up to 47% in a Body Paint shop.

Rain Water Harvesting Units
At few Dealership outlets, a well planned rain water harvesting unit installed . The rain water collected is used for plantation at their premises.

Afforestation Journey of TKM

TKM is continuously putting efforts in identifying the environmental dimension of sustainability concerns on non-living natural systems such as land, air, and water. We also realize that it is our prime responsibility to understand the similar concerns associated with living natural systems i.e., our Biodiversity as a whole.

Afforestation activity was initiated as part of Sustainable Plant initiatives in the year 2009 with the objective to spark the Eco-awareness among team members and all the stakeholders. It is an effort to create visual delight for our employees & TKM visitors & also to create a carbon sink.

TKM has reserved 33.33% (144 acres) of total land area (432 acres) to develop greenbelt inside the premises. We have planted 243,000 saplings covering about 12% (51 acres) of green belt area. The TKM's greenbelt development plan aims at overall improvement in the local ecosystem.

During the biodiversity survey conducted by experts inside the plant and our neighbourhood (up to 10 KM radius), 179 plant species were found inside TKM. These plants belonged to 139 genera and 51 families. 220 species were found in the buffer area during the survey. The 220 species belonged to 163 genera and 55 families. Out of 220 species, 95 species found have medicinal properties. Due to continuous improvement in the floral composition of the TKM, 44 species of birds, 38 species of butterflies, 9 species of reptiles and 6 species of mammals were recorded in the study area during the Biodiversity survey.
