Prius awards in the World and Europe

Toyota Prius Awards
The revolutionary Prius is a petrol-electric hybrid that offers half the fuel consumption and just 10 per cent of the exhaust emissions of ordinary cars. Prius will reached the European market in 2000. The Prius uses smart computer software to control a combination of electric and petrol motors, matching the power source to the conditions. For example, when pulling away and at low speeds Prius uses only electric power. At speed, the petrol engine is used for power and to recharge the batteries. No external charging is required.
The Prius has won many awards as follows:
The Prius is the world's first hybrid car in mass production. More than 3.500 Prius have been sold in Europe from launch to August 2002 and 100.000 world wide.
