The 6th Generation Camry is developed with a theme of "creating a new standard for premium luxury sedans". It also offers some of the highest levels of safety and environmental performance in its class as well as advanced equipment that provides comfort befitting a high-class vehicle.
The all-new Camry takes luxury and performance to greater heights offering a motoring experience that is beyond excellence.
The all-new Camry is being imported as a Completely Built Unit (CBU) and will be available for sales through all Toyota Dealerships across India starting March 2006.
In India, Toyota is introducing manual and automatic versions of 2.4 ltr petrol versions in 5 shades of Super White II, Silver Metallic, Black, Beige Mica Metallic and also the newly introduced Light Blue Metallic.
Beyond Beauty:
The exterior has been completely redesigned in the 6th Generation Camry with the wheelbase, front track, rear track and the overall width increased to give the sedan an athletic and modern look. The lean and straight proportion coupled with "scoop edges" of the car expresses a vigorous look. The scoop edge is applied inside and outside the car to come up with coherence and rhythm.
The modern design inspires a sense of authority and stability. The thin and wide headlamps have two vertical accent lines to create sharp and sporty front end. The exteriors also sport 'Intelligent Wipers' that work automatically by sensing raindrops on the windshield.
Beyond Comfort:
The interiors space of the all-new Camry has been increased to give a roomy relaxation feel, making it more comfortable and pleasing to the senses. The sleek new front panel has an air-conditioning system equipped with "Plasmacluster technology", which helps eliminate germs from the air, resulting in clean interiors. The independent temperature control enables temperature to be controlled for the driver and co-passenger, thus enhancing individual levels of comfort.
The multifunctional steering wheel has been fitted with audio control, multi information display and air conditioning control, which enable the driver to cruise along the road without removing his hand from the steering wheel. The tilt and telescopic steering wheel allows the steering to be set up at the most convenient position for stress free driving.
The seat sliding space has been expanded by 20mm enabling the driver to be seated comfortably. The driver's 8-way power seat with lumbar support makes for a comfortable drive, while the 4-way seats and air-conditioning ducts in the rear relax passengers too. Also interesting is the smart use of space making room for everything from cups to CD's; mobiles to sunglasses.
Beyond Performance: The new Camry will be available in both manual as well as automatic transmission versions. It has a 2.4L 4 Cylinder VVT - i engine which delivers 167bhp@6000rpm and a maximum power of 224Nm @ 4000rpm. The new Camry's automatic variant is equipped with an all-new 5-speed transmission system with ECT (Electronically Controlled Transmission), which utilizes advanced technology for a smooth shift feel and linear acceleration.
Beyond Safety:
Safety features have been upgraded to give a greater sense of security while driving the new Camry. The use of HID (High Intensity Discharge) lamps with auto leveling feature helps improve straight-line visibility, thereby enhancing the standards of safety. The unique retractable headlamp cleaner, a unique feature provided only by the Camry, gives the driver an option of cleaning the headlamps at the click of a button from the luxurious confines of the cabin, securing clear visibility even in bad weather. Front and rear fog lamps ensure excellent visibility in tough weather conditions.
The Antilock Braking System avoids locking of wheel and ensures stable breaking performance and also retains steering control. Electronic Break Force Distribution ensures appropriate breaking power on all 4 wheels. The Break Assist maximizes breaking force at the time of emergency thereby reducing the amount of pressure applied. Large diameter disc breaks have been used to ensure stable breaking.
Vehicle stability control (VSC) automatically controls engine output and breaking power on each wheel, avoiding tendency to skid laterally and enhancing vehicle safety and stability at all speeds. The area around the front fender cowl panel and hood have impact absorbing structure to reduce damage to pedestrian, in case of collusion with the car. WIL (Whiplash Injury Lessening) Concept Seats prevent neck injuries in case of rear end collusion.
Features such as SRS airbags, collapsible steering column, safe cabin structure and many other safety elements have been incorporated for superior safety considerations.
Price:
The 6th Generation Camry will be priced at Rs. 21,56,900/- for the Automatic Transmission Version and Rs. 19,93,700/- for the Manual Transmission Version (Ex-Showroom Bangalore)
