Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has posted a strong performance in 2004 by selling over 47,851 vehicles in wholesale, registering a growth of 20% over 2003.
While the global best sellers Camry and Corolla have made an impact on the Indian motorist, the Qualis continues to dominate the Indian MPV segment. The Land Cruiser Prado launched in November 2004 has been received very well and done exceptionally good.
TKM sold 36,698 units of the Qualis between January and December 2004 registering a growth of 20 percent over 2003. The sales of Qualis in December 2004 stood at 3541 a growth of 16 percent over December 2003. Qualis also recorded the highest ever retail sales at 4092 units in December 2004.
Toyota Corolla, the World's No. 1 bestseller, which ranked highest in the premium midsize segment in the J.D. Power Asia Pacific's 2004 India APEALSM Study has registered a sales of 10,195 units from January to December 2004, a growth of 25% over the previous year. Sales of Corolla in December 2004 stood at an impressive 749 units. Corolla has also recorded the highest ever retail sales at 1023 units in December 2004.
The sales figures of world-class luxury sedan Camry stood at 941 units from January to December 2004 out of which December 2004 sales accounted for 63 units.
The Land Cruiser Prado has been received very well in the market and the sales in December 2004 stood at 17 units.
"We have witnessed extremely good results in 2004 and this can be attributed to the good economic condition and growing market conditions. This year we will consolidate our market share and increase production capacity for 45,000 units per annum to 60,000 units," said Mr. A. Toyoshima, Managing Director, and TKM.
TKM has closed the year 2004 with sales of 47,851 units which is a growth of 20 percent over previous year, this record sales is due to the quality of products and the faith customers have in Toyota products. The recent J.D.Power Asia Pacific: 2004 India Initial Quality Study ranks the Toyota Corolla and the Qualis highest in the premium midsize segment and MUV/SUV segment with the lowest problems per hundred vehicles. Toyota has been benchmarked on quality, durability and reliability at low ownership costs in the industry.
The Toyota Qualis, Corolla and the Camry dominated the recently held TNS 2004 Total Customer Satisfaction Ranking survey, which was based on areas of sales satisfaction, product quality, vehicle performance and design, after sales service, brand image and cost of ownership.
