Toyota Kirloskar Motor today announced the launch of a limited edition of the world's best selling car, the Corolla, in India. Corolla, which dominates the executive car segment in India as well, is now available in two dramatically different colours - Metallic Red and Champagne Mica Metallic. Exciting features have been added both in the interiors and exteriors to further enhance the luxury, safety and superior maneuverability that Corolla is traditionally associated with.
Announcing the launch of the limited edition Corolla, Mr. Atsushi Toyoshima, Managing Director, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, said, "It is our endeavor to constantly upgrade our products. Corolla is a proven success globally and offers class leading comfort, luxury and safety. The limited edition Corolla is aimed at further delighting our customers."
The limited edition Corolla offers enhanced styling on the exteriors with chrome alloys, a stylish side skirt in addition to attractive features like intelligent auto headlamps and 10 spoke chrome finish alloy wheels which complement the aerodynamic styling of the sedan's exteriors. Corolla, launched in India in 2003, created quite a stir with its exterior and interior features that redefined the sedan category in the country.
Superior interiors of the limited edition are designed to offer classic comfort and luxury. A touch of wood has been added to the steering wheel that also houses audio controls to ensure greater comfort. Corolla's interiors are plush with luxurious seats and insulators that reduce noise, vibrations and harshness. Auto headlamps equipped with sensors ensure the multi-reflector headlamps come on with changes in the ambient light. A rear sunshade further helps maintain a comfortable soothing interior temperature.
The Corolla is powered by a 1.8 litre DOHC VVT-I engine that develops a whopping 125PS. Delivery of power is smooth and seamless thanks to optimal timing achieved by using Toyota's VVT-I (Variable Valve Timing-intelligent) technology. The Corolla is competitively priced, making it the ideal premium car suitable for the Indian automobile market.
Corolla dominates the premium car segment auto sales in India commanding over 27% of the market share. The Limited Edition will be available for a period of three months at Toyota dealerships from June 21, 2006. TKM intends to sell 300 units of the Limited Edition Corolla.
