Bidadi, 3rd January 2008: Toyota Kirloskar Motor, (TKM) India's leading automobile manufacturing company recently initiated an effort to promote music and talented singers among its employees - 'Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) Idol'. The contest had attracted 99 aspirants, all employees of TKM. The first round of auditions was held on October 25th 2007 followed by the second round on 30th October 2007. Eventually 40 contestants were short-listed and as the rounds progressed 12 of them made it to the final. The finals of the Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) Idol were held at Bidadi today.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr K. K. Swamy, Deputy Managing Director, TKM said, "We are happy with the tremendous positive response that TKM Idol has received from the employees. At TKM, we look to continuously improve not only our products but also our employee relationship. TKM Idol is our effort to promote music and talent among employees at TKM."
The 12 finalists had previously performed in front of all team members and family at the Rajyotsava celebrations held on Nov 17th in the presence of veteran actor-producer-director Mr Dwarkish and noted playback singers Mr Hemanth and Ms Nanditha.
The 12 finalists are: Mr Sunil Issac (Weld), Mr A.P. Ravikeerthi (Weld), Mr Shivakumar G A (Weld), Mr Bharadwaja K R (Quality Division), Mr Guruprasad (Quality Division), Mr Rakesh C N (Quality Division), Mr Girish P (Plant Administration), Mr Gurunath Shastry (Assembly), Mr Saleem Khan (Plant Administration), Mr Vinay Kumar H Y (Customer Service), Mr Sushanth (Customer Service) and Mr Shankaralinga (Customer Service). The finalists performed for three rounds including slow/melody, fast track and a round of songs of the judges' choice at the finals today.
The judges of the contest, well known classical musician & composer Mr. Prakash Sontakke and singer Mr. V. Manohar were overwhelmed by the enthusiasm and performances of the participants.
