17th July 2014, Coimbatore: Toyota Kirloskar Motor today announced its return to the race circuits with the 2014 season of EMR Trophy. After the success of the inaugural Etios Motor Racing (EMR) Trophy in 2013, the first round of the EMR trophy for 2014 will take place on the 19th and 20th of July at the Kari Motor Speedway in Coimbatore. This is the first time EMR Trophy will be held in Coimbatore. The EMR drivers will compete against each other for the second edition of the EMR Trophy to be held along with the third & fifth rounds of the National Racing Championship this year.
Present at the occasion were Mr. N Raja, Director & Sr. Vice President, Sales & Marketing, Toyota Kirloskar Motor along with Mr. C.S.Vigneshwar, Deputy Managing Director, Anaamalais Toyota along with other distinguished guests.
Commenting on the announcement, Mr. N. Raja, Director & Sr. Vice President - Marketing and Sales, TKM said, "Toyota introduced EMR in India in 2012 with an aim to promote motorsports at a grass root level and make motorsports more accessible and popular in India. Partnered with one of the most accomplished names in motorsports history- Toyota Racing Development, EMR has provided a platform for talented young racers to develop their motoring skills, and further train them to gain a competitive edge for their future.
EMR has been very well appreciated by motorsport enthusiasts, youngsters and our customers in India. This year, ten new motorsport talents have joined us and we wish all our drivers the very best for the new season of the EMR trophy. The success of the inaugural EMR trophy has encouraged us immensely and we look forward to the second edition of the EMR Trophy," concluded Mr. N. Raja.
Also speaking on this occasion, Mr. C.S.Vigneshwar, Deputy Managing Director, Anaamalais Toyota said, "We at Aanamalais Toyota are very excited as this is the first time EMR Trophy is being held in Coimbatore. The new EMR driver line up which consists of a mix of existing and new EMR drivers, will compete for the title this year. The inaugural EMR trophy which was held at the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida last year saw Diljith as its first champion whereas Akhil Rabindra and Varun Anekar finished in the second and third places respectively.
