Launches third driving school in India at Harsha Toyota, Hyderabad
Hyderabad, September 03, 2015 - Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) today announced the launch of its third 'Toyota Driving School' in the country, in Hyderabad in pursuance of its safety mission 'Safest Car, Safest Driver'. The school will be managed by one of Toyota's leading dealership Harsha Toyota maintaining the standard quality specified by Toyota. The project which aims to set up driving schools across key cities in India was initiated as a pilot project in Kochi, Kerala at Nippon Toyota, early this year.
Present at the inauguration today were Mr. Sandeep Kumar Sultania - IAS, Transport Commissioner, Telangana State. Mr. Naomi Ishii, Managing Director, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, Mr. T.S. Jaishankar, Deputy Managing Director, Toyota Kirloskar Motor and Mr. Harshavardhan, Managing Director, Harsha Toyota, Hyderabad.
Launched in line with the company's vision of "Safest car with safest driver", 'Toyota Driving School', one of its kind in the country, will ensure extreme importance on making every student a responsible and safe driver. The curriculum will be a comprehensive driver training program that will boast of high quality and practical and futuristic training models like the driver simulator mechanism which is expected to deliver the "Etios Experience". To make this experience as realistic as possible, Toyota has incorporated features like IP, steering, and seats of an actual Etios car.

With safety and quality driving the company's core principle, the launch of Toyota's third driving school in India also marked the introduction of another quality milestone in the city with the launch of our first "Toyota Express Service facility" in Hyderabad. Toyota Express Service (TES) is a novel customer centered facility concept introduced by Toyota Kirloskar Motor. Through this service, vehicle gets serviced and delivered to the customers in 60 minutes with the highest standards of quality. This is the 6th such facility in India. By the end of this calendar year TKM is planning to have 14 TES facilities operational in key cities of India.

Commenting on the unique concept of Toyota Express Service, Mr. Ishii further added, "Toyota Express Service is all about superior quality service in just 60 minutes rendered to our customers. Indian roads have the reputation of being one of the deadliest in the world by claiming one life every four minutes in road accidents. With Hyderabad now ranked as third highest in terms of vehicle population with 723 vehicles per km, recent study conducted by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) declared that Hyderabad recorded the highest number of road accident deaths in the country in 2014 i.e. more fatalities than the capital city of Delhi. The city logged 5, 881 road mishaps in which 1,394 persons lost their lives.

The simulator, a key part of the teaching program, is expected to provide hands on experience. Learners can practice all car controls like steering, accelerator, brake and gear shift before they take the actual vehicle on the road. The simulators can also create various road and weather conditions like fog, dim light, uphill and downhill terrain. While there will be a standard learning package for beginners, 'Toyota Driving School' will also offer the flexibility of additional learning modules so that learners can design a curriculum of their choice.
Besides, the simulator also has several credits, it is the first car simulator in India with Full High Definition Computer graphics in an immersive Curved Projection environment, and it is the first simulator in India with real complete car cabin along with actual car gear. In addition, it also offers extensive local language support for effective training and extensive sessions for both Novice and advance drivers.
As a safety crusader, Toyota Kirloskar Motor has been engaged in Road Safety initiative since 2005 through various pan India campaigns. The company has engaged with over 6 lakh students across India through its "Toyota Safety Education Programme" which aims at spreading road safety awareness amongst children of 10 - 14 years. Toyota has educated 30,000 school children in the city of Hyderabad as a part of TSEP. In addition, TKM has reached out to close to 1250 taxi drivers by conducting Safety Training Program and Health Check-up Camp For drivers at Bengaluru airport. With the launch of Toyota Driving School across India, the company aims to bring down the rising number of road accidents caused majorly due to human error. The training module will integrate technical expertise along with enhancing behavioral skills to create awareness about safety nationwide.
Toyota is also the first manufacturer to have standardized front dual SRS airbags across all models attributes safety as a crucial factor in all their endeavors. With the launch of 'Toyota Driving School', Toyota intends to further reiterate these values and inculcate traffic discipline and road safety among citizens.
