New Delhi, February 26th 2016 - In line with its comprehensive approach towards road safety in India, Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) will organize a "Driver Training Program" and a "Health Check-up Camp" at Delhi International Airport on the 1st of March from 9 am onwards. India accounts for nearly 1.4 lakhs death due to road accidents according to Global Road Safety Report 2015. To ensure safe public transport on Indian roads health and safety of cab drivers play a pivotal role.

The eminent dignitaries present at the event willbe Mr. Sanjay Bandopadhyaya, CEO, Natrip, Dr. Rohit Baluja, President, IRTE, Dr. Naresh Trehan, CMD, Medanta Hospital, Mr. Marcel Hungerbeuhler, COO, GMR, and Mr. Harender Kumar, DCP, Traffic Circle South Districtand. Toyota Kirloskar will be represented by dignitaries from senior management like Mr. Naomi Ishii, MD, Toyota Kirloskar Motor and Mr. Vikram Kirloskar, Vice Chairman, Toyota Kirloskar Motor.

The health checkup camp organized in association with GMR group and Medanta Hospital is expected to reach out to over 1,000cab drivers representing various cabservices based in the city. Both the organizations have extended their services free of cost, and joined hands with TKM to champion the critical cause of road safety.

Free health checkup with X ray services and advanced blood tests will be available at the location for the cab drivers.As a part of this safety drive, Toyota Kirloskar Motor will donate 4 alcohol meters tothe state transport administration.Recently, theDriver Training Program was successfully completed in the Bangalore International Airport as part of the road safety awareness month with over 1,500 cab drivers participating in the program.306 drivers were diagnosed with vision problems during the health checkup and provided free spectacles by TKM. The campaign was initiated last year with the first Safety Training Program and Health Check-up Camp For drivers at Bengaluru airport.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor has been consistently engaged in Road Safety initiatives since 2005 through various pan India campaigns.

This year's campaign kick started with TKM's participation in the road safety awareness week from 9th -16th January 2016 organized by Bangalore Traffic Police Department. 18 alcohol meters were donated by TKM, which was handed over to Dr. M A Saleem, Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) by MD, Naomi Ishii. There were varied interactive activities organized with a focus to generate road safety awareness amongst children and general public in the city of Bangalore.

Road Safety Awareness among school children - Additionally, the company has engaged with over 6 lakh students across India through its "Toyota Safety Education Program" which aims at spreading road safety awareness amongst children of 10 - 14 years. Toyota has educated 30,000 school children in the city of Hyderabad as a part of TSEP.

Driving Schools with focus on safe driving -Being the safety leader in the industry dedicated to the mission 'Safest Cars with Safest Drivers' the company launched Toyota Driving School across India, to impart quality driving training to bring down the rising number of road accidents caused majorly due to human error. The training module will integrate technical expertise along with enhancing behavioral skills to create awareness about safety nationwide.

Seminar to create awareness on safety - TKM had also organized a safety seminar in Guwahati in November 2015, as part of the Bangladesh-Bhutan-India Nepal friendship rally to drive the message of road safety across boundaries.

Safe Cars - Toyota is also the first auto manufacturer to have standardized airbags across all grades of Etios, Etios Liva and Etios Cross, further reinstating the importance of safety. This growing concern over safety has made Toyota strive to ensure better technology to enhance better safety.
