- TKM’s unique T-TEP initiative is associated with 61 Industrial Training Institutes (ITI) and Diploma Institute across 25 states across India
Solan, 19th December 2022: Toyota Kirloskar Motor [TKM] today announced the launch of 61st T-TEP institute at Indian Institute of Skill Development, Solan, Himachal Pradesh with support of Automotive Skill Development Corporation (ASDC). The primary objective of this initiative is to enhance the student’s skill sets with special focus on rural areas, thereby strengthening their employability through the company’s unique training initiative namely Toyota Technical Education Program (T-TEP).
Aimed at generating talented and technically skilled professionals for the automobile industry, T-TEP strongly contributes to country’s “Skill India” mission. With T-TEP, thus far, TKM is associated with 61 ITI/Diploma institutes covering 25 states. Currently, more than 12,000 students have been trained and 70% of the students are working in various automobile companies in the country.
The inauguration event was graced by Mr. Vishal Anand, Dealer Principal, Anand Toyota, in the presence of Mr. Anshuk Talwar, Director, Indian Institute Of Skill Development, Solan, Himachal Pradesh and senior executives from ASDC and TKM.
Expressing his views, Mr. Vishal Anand, Dealer Principal, Anand Toyota said, “Toyota is known for its exceptional quality products and services, which stems from developing world-class people, processes, and necessary infrastructure. T-TEP is continuously growing and adapting to the changing needs and dynamics of auto industry and this initiative is an important step to further enhance skill development with special focus to provide opportunities for youth to learn and excel.”
Talking about this partnership, Mr. Anshuk Talwar, Director, Indian Institute Of Skill Development, Solan, Himachal Pradesh said, “With advancements in technology in the auto industry and unprecedent growth in motorization, we need to ensure that the consumers receive the best-in-class services, especially in rural areas. To align with this requirement, we will be in need of highly skilled technicians, making it imperative that students at technical training centers have access to advanced technologies and gain hands-on training experience. With this collaboration, students will get an opportunity to understand Toyota’s values, best practices, and advanced technologies which will benefit not only the students but also the entire industry, thereby contribute toward the Skill India Mission.”
On this occasion, Mr. Arindam Lahiri, CEO, ASDC, said, “Toyota Kirloskar Motor’s initiative, in collaboration with Indian Institute of Skill Development, Solan, Himachal Pradesh will have a big impact towards developing highly skilled, employable, and future ready youths. These efforts of collaboration by industry partners like Toyota which are aligned with the Government’s Skill India Mission will support in bridging the existing skills gap and help develop world-class workforce in state of Himachal Pradesh”
Speaking on this initiative “Mr. Vikram Gulati, Country Head & EVP, Toyota Kirloskar Motor said, “Automotive industry is growing tremendously and since 2006 T-TEP has become a benchmark by adopting exceptional training modules, thereby benefitting the automotive service industry and society at large. Through the T-TEP initiative, we develop talented youths by equipping them with world-class training on advanced technologies. Our collaboration with Indian Institute Of Skill Development, Solan, Himachal Pradesh will strengthen the talent pool from the grass root level and provide opportunities for youth with special focus on rural areas”.
As a part of this initiative, Toyota will support the institute with latest curriculum covering automobile fundamentals, safety, Toyota values and basic soft skills. The company along with its dealer partner have invested over Rs 1.5 million towards infrastructure, e-learning contents, engines, transmissions, practice kits and train the institute’s faculty through its unique Train-The-Trainer approach. In addition, TKM’s dealer partner – Anand Toyota will also support by providing On-Job-Training to these students. Anand Toyota will effectively adopt this program via T-TEP syllabus and enable the students to undergo the on-the-job training.
