As a part of its commitment to GTTC development, TKM engages in a broad spectrum of programs encompassing Faculty Development, Industry-specific curriculum, Infrastructure Enhancement, Deployment of TKM Trainers, and Training Courses designed for students.

Speaking about the program, Mr. Shankara G - Executive Vice President and Director, Toyota Kirloskar Motor said, “We are thrilled with the wholehearted participation by Principals from thirty-one Government Tool Room & Training Centres (GTTC) from across Karnataka. GTTC’s contribution towards skill development among the youth is immense. At TKM, we recognise the crucial importance of enhancing capabilities to meet the rapidly growing demand for skilled manpower. Our endeavour is to ensure capacity building of the faculty so that they develop youth with knowledge, skills, attitude and discipline required for the industry. Through this, we would like to transform rural youth into world-class competitive technicians and contribute to the nation and the world.

Currently, TKM has partnerships with sixty-five institutes in Karnataka for unique skill training programs, including sixteen GTTCs (Government Tool Room and Training Centres). Our plan is to adopt and develop five more GTTCs in the upcoming financial year. This strategic expansion perfectly aligns with TKM's vision to cultivate an automotive industry culture and promote skill development. TKM remains dedicated to enhancing the skilling landscape in Karnataka and India, in line with the government's Skill India Mission”.

TKM, acknowledged as an Industrial Training Provider (ITP) by GTTC, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in January 2021 to deliver industry-specific skill development training in GTTC locations. Since then, TKM has been instrumental in establishing and enhancing GTTC institutes throughout Karnataka.

TKM will provide an opportunity for the trainees to acquire skills relevant to the manufacturing industry and improve their employment potential through a ‘Learn and Earn’ approach consisting of a mix of theoretical and On-the-Job Development. The youth will be trained by Toyota supervisors with extensive hands-on experience in the Toyota Production System. Upon successful completion of the training, they will have to take up an exam for certification, which will be jointly conducted by GTTC and TKM as per Automotive Skills Development Council guidelines.

The program aims at developing youth who have passed their 10th standard. The three-year training program will be provided in two trades - automobile welding and automobile assembly.
